Frequently Asked Questions

Infantile colic is defined as episodes of excessive and inconsolable crying in an apparently healthy newborn infant. This disorder is very common and in general may affect 40% of infants.

The criteria usually used in the diagnosis of infant colic are called Wessel’s rules or “rule of 3” and consist of: crying for a daily duration of more than 3 hours, on at least 3 days a week and for more than 3 weeks. There are other characteristic symptoms that are also related to colic but are not always present, such as gas, bloated belly, redness of the face, abdominal distension or elevation of the knees towards the belly.

Easycol BABY is a food supplement containing lactase, an enzyme that we produce naturally to digest and hydrolyze lactose, the sugar (disaccharide) found in breast milk and formula milk. The hydrolysis of lactose into 2 simple monosaccharides, glucose and galactose, will allow the newborn to obtain all the energy it needs for its normal and healthy development and growth.

Easycol BABY+® is a completely natural and safe product since the ingredients that compose it are naturally found in our body. Easycol BABY+® contains in its composition water, lactase enzyme (which we produce in the digestive tract) and glycerol (a substance present in our body that comes from the metabolism of lipids).

Lactose: It is the sugar (disaccharide) present in dairy products such as milk, cheese or yogurts. Lactase: It is an enzyme naturally produced by our body that serves to hydrolyze lactose, breaking it down into two simple sugars (monosaccharides): glucose and galactose. Our body absorbs monosaccharides which it then uses in the production of energy.

Easycol BABY+® can be used from birth.

Easycol BABY+® should be used at each feeding and until the baby stops having digestive problems, which is usually after 4 months of age. From this moment on, the amount of drops can be gradually reduced until the product is completely removed. However, should the baby again experience discomfort and digestion problems, you can resume giving Easycol BABY+® as before.

To use Easycol BABY+® with formula or expressed breast milk, it is recommended to prepare the bottle half an hour in advance: add 4 drops and shake, because while waiting to give the bottle, the lactase will act optimally on the lactose.

Before breastfeeding, place the number of drops indicated in the table on a spoon and administer directly into the baby’s mouth.

Scientific studies have shown a significant reduction in the duration of crying in newborns whose milk has been treated with lactase enzyme, which demonstrates the efficacy of Easycol BABY+® in digestive problems caused by the transitory deficiency of this enzyme.

Easycol BABY+® should preferably be kept at a temperature below 25ºC. Once opened, Easycol BABY+® should be kept in a dry place in its original container.

Yes, because Easycol BABY+® is gluten-free and its ingredients are not of animal origin: the glycerol is derived from vegetable sources and the lactase enzyme is derived from yeast.

Easycol BABY+® is not a medicine. Easycol BABY+® is a natural food supplement.

As Easycol BABY+® is not a medicine, it is very safe, has no side effects and can be used from birth.
